All board members must complete an eligibility declaration when they join a school board.
To complete the declaration use the:
- nomination form - for elected board members
- eligibility declaration form - for co-opted, appointed or selected board members
Signing an eligibility declaration is legally required. The person signing it has to confirm to the board that they are not ineligible to be on a school board.
Boards should provide this summary of people who are not eligible to be school board members along with any nomination or eligibility forms to potential new board members.
The board should keep a copy of the completed eligibility declaration on file.
